Rally - Bogie's 5th title

David Bogie and Kevin Rae won today's Colin McRae Forest Stages Rally, the penultimate round of the ARR Craib Scottish Rally Championship. In doing so he has clinched a record breaking fifth consecutive national Scottish rallying title.

Going into the final stage, he was 8 seconds down on Euan Thorburn with nearly 11 miles of 'Green Heaven' through Craigvinean.

It's one of Bogie's favourite all time forest tests but he was on the wrong tyres. "We didn't have any left we could only fit what we had and they were wrong for the conditions. I found that out at the first corner then the second one, the car was all over the road. But I love this stage. I just went for it."

As for Thorburn, it wasn't to be his day. The gearbox malfunctioned and he had to switch mode to Manual, then he punctured a rear tyre with over half the stage to go. At the road side afterwards, the decision was made to put the car on the trailer and not risk the gearbox any further - he's still in with a shout of the BTRDA National title. Go get 'em Euan.

Mike Faulkner scored only his second podium finish of the year in his new car, the last time on the Granite so he finished in the runner-up position with Dave Weston scoring third after Thorburn's demise.
