There’s a last minute addition to the entry list for this Saturday’s
Colin McRae Forest Stages Rally at Aberfeldy. Dave Weston Jnr, with David Robson, has entered a
Subaru Impreza WRC.
Dave was in Wales earlier today testing the car: “It was a
last minute thing,” he said, “I just wanted to get out and have a bit of fun.”
Winner of the 2010 Border Counties Rally, Dave was last out
on Rally GB later that year: “We finished 25th on Rally GB in the
Group N Subaru, but this will be the first time in a proper WRC car – apart from
a run out in Dad’s 2005 Focus WRC on the 2008 Rally GB when I finished 33rd.”
When asked if he had a target in mind this weekend, he said:
“We’ll see where we are when we come out of the first stage!”
Neither would he be drawn on plans for next year: “No, this
is not the start of a comeback, although that would be good, but let’s just see
how I get on this weekend. Having said that, Ieuan (Thomas, his regular co-driver) hasn't got much on for next year either!”
