Rally - Nat. Dev. Officer role

I didn’t think the appointment of a new Motor Sports Development Officer for Scotland would have aroused quite so much interest and curiosity, but it would appear that it has, going by the questions and emails received since the appointment was publicised here.

According to Tom Purves, SMS Chairman: “This is an exciting time to be involved with motor sport in Scotland.  Initially we wanted to demonstrate the significance of the sport to our country and I am delighted that as a result sportscotland has subsequently supported our funding application. The role of the Development Officer is now a critical one; he or she will be required to work with us in establishing what the sport needs in Scotland and how best that can be achieved. If we get this right, it will have a significant impact on our sport and all its participants.”

Louise Martin CBE, Chair of sportscotland, also commented: “We are delighted to have supported Scottish Motor Sports with an investment of £40,000 to create a development officer role. Scotland has a proud motor sport history, and this position will help the next generation of champions to flourish, as well as providing a solid base from which to progress the sport to another level.”

So, in the interests of open-ness and transparency I have printed out the ‘job description’ of the new
National Development Officer Scotland in Scotland’s rally mag at:
