Rally - Rally car tracking?
The MSA Rallies Committee is currently researching live vehicle tracking systems and suppliers for potential introduction on UK stage rallies.
Currently the technology exists to provide such a service and is deployed on WRC rounds, but they use a circling aeroplane to relay the signals from the transponders in the cars to Rally HQ. And that’s expensive.
However, other countries use their mobile telephone networks and that could provide a way forward.
This is a good idea, I’m all for safety – but who is going to pay for it?
The full text of the Press Release has been posted on the rally mag.

Mind you, I should also add that I have added some thoughts of my own at the end of it.
See if you agree or disagree.
