Road - Porsche hospitality

The other big attraction with regard to an invitation from Porsche to join them at a Cup Race Meeting, is the hospitality in the race support marquee.

This giant tent, sorry, hospitality suite, is transported around the race circuits and Porsche customer days and is used to entertain and feed all their guests. The race teams also buy into this as part of the racing experience, so naturally, the emphasis is on healthy eating i.e. no pies and sugary drinks.

Dainty portions!
Instead I had the vegetable lasagne and some carrots. But as for the pudding, the mixed fruits were ignored in favour of cherry crumble with custard. In other words, good old schooldays stodge, and just the thing to provide some additional ballast when the wind gets up at Knockhill.

Having said that, apart from some short sharp showers sweeping over the circuit, the weather was fine and warm, so fingers crossed that the BTCC visitors get some more good weather over the coming weekend.

The programme of events looks good for Sunday with a cavalcade of former Scottish stars and some previous generation tin top racing machinery during the lunch break - including John Cleland's championship winning Vauxhall Vectra.

So, I might just come back up on Sunday to wallow in some nostalgia and help Knockhill celebrate 20 years of Touring Car racing in Scotland.
