After more than a year out of competition John MacCrone and Rhianon
Gelsomino finished the first day in 24th place overall in their Ford
Fiesta, which is pretty damn good considering his lack of seat time.
“That was a pretty good day, all things considered,” said
John at the overnight halt, “It’s a year and a bit since I last sat in a rally
car. I just had to make sure I got through today. I’ve been waiting a year for
this. Running further back in the road, there are some big ruts and a few holes
on that second loop. There was an added problem with the low afternoon sun
blinding us at times. We caught a car in that last one too, so I hope to push
on a wee bit more tomorrow.”
