What the heck is a ‘Polonda’ as seen in the reserve entry list
of the 2019 Beatson’s Mull Rally? Gordon Milne (155) wanted the handling of a
VW Polo and the power of a 1.6 litre Honda and so he built this. He had previously
looked at the costs of running and maintaining a VW power unit and promptly
decided that he would choose something else. In standard trim the Honda unit
puts 150 bhp, and that’s enough for Gordon, for now. The number plate is a
giveaway but it might take older folks (like yours truly) a minute or two to
get it, eh? Dohhh!
