Rally - Taylor leads Turnbull

Inglis is top Scot at present
After 2 stages (of 8) Peter Taylor leads the Blasting Magic Turnbull Trophy Rally by 28 seconds from Howard Chopping with the top Scot, Alistair Inglis in third place another 26 seconds behind.

Taylor is back behind the wheel of the Focus WRC and flinging it around the wide expanse of Albemarle with big tyre smoking slides everywhere, at least on the first stage. His Dad must have had a word about tyres and cost before SS2, he was much tidier that time!

Chopping's Subaru obvioulsy likes the wide open expanse and flat out runways with Inglis struggling to keep up in the EVO5. Jim Sharp is 7th in the Subaru and Richard Sutherland is ninth in the Opel Manta. Stephen Thompson from Solway is lying tenth at the moment in his MkII, but the top 2WD car at present is Chris Singer's 1.6 Saxo in fifth place.

Stuart Walker is out though. He thinks it's the clutch, stranding the Lancer mid stage 1. James Thompson is out with a failed crank sensor in the Nova and Richard Stewart has had a fire in the Corsa's wiring loom. Murray Coulthard has dunted a bale and broken the headlights, so as long as the rally finishes before dark, he'll be fine!

And as for Kieran O'Kane in the 3 litre Opel Ascona, he could keep a tyre factory in business on his own. Hooligan.

So, mixed success for the Scots so far.
