Rally - Kames winners

Alan Gardiner and Alan Todd won today's Albar Kames Trophy Rally at the Kames motorsport complex in Muirkirk, but the big story was in the Junior Rally where the winners were separated from the runners-up by TWO seconds after 16 stages.

Michael Dickie and Euan Duncan won the Junior Trophy in their Toyota Aygo after a pretty troublefree run but they were never able to relax because the Nissan Micra of Harry Marchbank and Jordan Black were sniffing at their exhaust pipe all day.

It was Michael's first Junior win in the Championship: "The car was good and the Notes worked well so I was pleased. Kames is a tight and technical place but it's good fun."

"I just couldn't go any harder," said Harry, "that was as fast as the car would go." In third place were Ben Crealey and Liam Regan who might have been closer than 24 seconds but for a spin on the first stage, but just managed to displace Dylan O'Donnell and Tracey Louise Muir for third place over the final four stages.

There were quite a few bumps and bangs during the day but nothing serious although Dale Kelly managed to park his Micra upside down on the tenth stage, but pushed the car back on to its wheels and drove back to service for emergency repairs. Sadly he failed to finish when the car spluttered to a halt on the 13th test when the "shit from the tank" clogged the fuel pump - no doubt due to being upside down earlier!
