The fifth round of this year’s Scottish Rally Championship
hits the forests this weekend in and around Dumfries. The 'Scottish Rally' event will also be
celebrating its 80th anniversary although the sport has changed beyond all recognition
since the early days. Tweed suits and bunnets have been replaced with fireproof
suits and crash hats for a start, and then there’s the cars, not to mention the
length of the rally – but that’s a sore point amongst older rally fans.
Making his return to the forests is last year’s ‘Scottish’ winner, Jock Armstrong who cowped his Subaru quite badly on the Speyside last year, and has been kicking his heels since then. There are a few more surprises in the Entry List with the return of Alick Kerr in a Subaru, Kenny Wills in a Mitsubishi and Andrew Gallacher has got himself a Mark II Escort!
There’s a full Entry List and Route Info on the web-site but you’ll need to buy a Programme for the detail - £1 from every programme is going to ‘Help for Heroes’. Details of where to buy the Programmes are also in the News section of the website:
