Rally - High Flier

Forget Loeb and Hirvonen, British eyes will be focused firmly on Kris Meeke when the FIA World Rally Championship comes to Wales Rally GB on 10-13 November.

Ya Beezer!
OK, so he’s not Scottish, but at least he’s Celtic, plus Campbell Roy manages the team, and of course we all know who helped Kris in the early days, so there is a strong tartan connection there.

Meeke, in his debut WRC season, was fifth two weeks ago in Spain, but it would be a real fairy tale if he could pull off a victory in Wales. A British driver has not won Rally GB since Richard Burns in 2000 while MINI’s only previous victory on the event was in 1965 when Rauno Aaltonen won it in a ‘proper’ Mini Cooper S!

But if you are going down to Wales, take your toorie bunnet with you so you can wave it at John MacCrone and Stuart Louden in the Tunnock’s/Palletforce Fiesta as well.

Also taking part in the National event are Donnie MacDonald/Andrew Falconer, John Morrison/Peter Carstairs, Alistair and Colin Inglis, Malloch Nicoll/Robert Lumgair, and Wayne Sisson/David MacFadyen all in Lancers plus Carl and Rob Tuer in their MG ZR, so there’s lots to wave the Saltire at.
