Road - Xtrac goes electric

Mention Xtrac to any motor sports fan or keen motoring enthusiast and it conjures up images of transmissions and transaxles for anything from Formula 1 and rally cars to motorcycles, from aerospace and defence to marine applications, but there’s more. The company produces transmissions and driveline components for many more humdrum applications – including this electric van.

Built in Germany, the StreetScooter uses a single-speed gearbox and differential developed for front-wheel drive vehicles by Xtrac

The StreetScooter has been designed as a light commercial vehicle to suit a variety of service industry and trade roles.  The extended wheelbase pre-production model has a cargo capacity of about four cubic metres.   It’s designed for city use and has a power rating of 30-45 kW (40-60 bhp) generated by a lithium-ion battery and induction motor.  Maximum range is 120 kms (75 miles) and the maximum speed is 85 km/h (53 mph).

I don’t know about you, but if you squint your eyes and peer at the image, it has something of the Land Rover Evoque about it, does it not? That is if you can take your eyes off the girls!
