Rally - Final day

Euan Thorburn and Paul Beaton finished 25th overall in the 2014 Wales Rally GB. Not quite the result they were wanting, but: "My pace was not too bad for first time out in the car," said Euan, "if it hadn't been for our problems we could have had a good result, but that's rallying. We had he misfire all day yesterday and it was getting worse later on then the throttle jammed on the last stage and that caused us some serious concern. It was dark and we had te lights on and that drained the battery too, so at service we had to change the battery and the alternator and finally changed the crank sensor which cured the misfire."

"Conditions were wetter and slippier this year, but it's been good. We caught a car in that last stage today too, but as for next year, who knows?"

Tony Jardine and Peta Cavendish finished 47th overall: "Today was great but it's been a rally of up and down dramas. Last year it was a pretty good run but this year has been different. I'm just glad we got to the finish, and that was thanks to the team for their sterling work through Friday night into Saturday morning."

Garry Pearson and Niall Burns finished 50th and after his first day troubles, Garry was better pleased with his pace: "I think we were setting fastest and second fastest times in the class today so it was all about seat time. It took a while to get used to Niall, and he took a while to get used to me, but it was all working well by the finish. I think we finished about 5th in class but there was no way we were ever going to get that half hour back!"
