Over in Austria at the weekend Robert Kubica won the 31 Int. Jännerrallye, Oberösterreich, in his Ford Fiesta RRC. This was thefirst event of the season in the 12 round
FIA European Rally Championship.
Czech
driver Václav Pech was just 20 seconds behind in second place in his MINI John
Cooper Works S2000 losing out on the final stage of the rally. Local driver and
eleven-time Austrian champion Raimund Baumschlager was third, over a minute and
half behind in his Skoda Fabia S2000.
Kubica’s
efforts and eight fastest stage times also earned him the Colin McRae ERC ‘Flat
Out’ Trophy which was presented by Marcus Grönholm.
