Bill Sturrock's Route Note Amendments being issued at Border Counties' Signing-On makes interesting reading. Although the first stage would appear to be clear of snow and ice, the Stages 2 and 3 descriptions make an awfy lot of mentions of the word 'ice', while there is a preponderance of the word 'snow' in the note additions for Stages 4 and 5 - as well as ice!
However, there is a note of encouragement for competitors. The ground is so frozen that where the gravel is showing through the ice, there is grip to be had. Not a lot, but anything will be a bonus tomorrow.
