Rally - Border uncertainty

It all kicks off at 8.30 on Saturday morning. Euan Thorburn arrives in Jedurgh fresh from victory on the Malcolm Wilson Stages and David Bogey doesn't. David has had a bad start to his season with the new Focus, but reckons he's got to the bottom of it now. It was originally set up far too soft for a driver of his calibre, so the team went right back to basics and tightened up all the diffs. However, the man on form is Thorburn.

As for Mike Faulkner, he's got a rebuilt engine to run in while Jock Armstrong has had a wee test ahead of Saturday's opening round of the ARR Craib Scottish Championship. With Quintin Milne and Barry Groundwater in the mix who knows what will happen on Saturday? But add in the Focus of top English crews Peter Stephenson and the Citroen DS3 of Tom Cave, who won  five major rallies outright last year, plus Irish front runner Desi Henry in another DS3, not to mention yong Oliver Mellors in an ex-works Proton Satria S2000, then the Scottish season is ready for an explosive start.

Oh, and one other unpredictable. Snow. There's a test on tomorrow (Friday) ahead of the rally, so I'll find out there what conditions are like in the forests ahead of Saturday.
