Rally - Bogie leads by 3

Hot stuff on Speyside this morning and not just the weather, 3 seconds separate the top two after three stages on this McDonald and Munro Speyside Stages Rally, round 5 of the ARR Crib Scottish Championship.

"The surface is very loose and slippy," said David Bogie, "but it should clean up for the later runners." Apparently it didn't, with even guys in the 30s saying that the first stage was loose and marbly although the next two were better. They also said that rocks were being pulled out by the front running ditch hookers!

3 seconds behind the leader is Euan Thorburn: "I've got a wee problem with the flat-shift," he said, "it took me by surprise on the first stage. It's dipping the clutch on each change and it shouldn't, but I can live with it if I know it's there. I've also got a front shock absorber problem, but we'll see how it is after the next three stages."

Dave Weston is in third place: "I had a lack of concentration in that last one," said Dave, "and had a wee off. Just a wee one, we only lost 5 or 6 seconds."

In fourth place is Quintin Milne but as ever, had something to tell: "We burst a rear brake pipe on the first stage," said Q, "and had to crimp it closed on the rad section and did the next two stages with braking on three wheels only." Still he's pleased to be first non-WRC on the road.

Jock Armstrong had a bad start to his day: "The first stage was just so loose," he said, "we had two offs, the second one more severe than the first!" but he'sstill holding fifth place with six stages to go, including two through Gartly.

Andy Horne is out though, the Metro spotted parked with its *rs* in a ditch and its nose in the air
