37 years ago the Esso Scottish Rally
Championship featured one of the closest title race finishes on record. At the
conclusion of the 10 round series, Jimmy Fleming and Colin Valentine had tied
on points, so the tie-decider determined who the 1983 Scottish Champion would
be. This final round report has been reproduced from the championship
newsletter of the time and does not follow the more formal 'house style' of
Motoring News reports as they were then.
Nothing has been changed to ensure the report's original authenticity, so if
you don't recognise the nicknames and can't work them out, ask a friend, or if
you don't have any friends, ask an auld git.
