Rally - The Shutdown

Rallying is no different from any other sport or gathering. In light of Government and medical advice, it looks as though the sport is shutting itself down. First we had the Northwest Stages and West Cork Rally news and now the latest from the Speyside Stages, the Jim Clark Rally and the Circuit of Ireland. They are all OFF. No doubt more will follow.

It's all very well thinking that rallying should be immune since it takes place out in the open air and folk are generally scattered about around the country, but look it at from another point of view. Competitors have to travel to and from venues as do Organisers, Officials, Marshals, Paramedics, Radio and Recovery crews not to mention the hundreds and thousands of spectators. That's what governments and medics are more keen to cut down, not so much the gathering of folk in one location, but the travelling to and from affected and non-affected areas and the onwards spreading of the disease.

So rallying will have just as much impact on society as any stadium or arena based competition.

So you'll just have to blow the dust off your Playstation and get your thumbs rallying.

  2. Hi, I saw your post about ken wood and wondered if he still does any driving? And if you know what happened to his dolomite sprint as it use to be my father's old car, thanks!

  3. Yes, he still does a bit of driving and yes he still has a Dolomite but he has fitted a V6 engine to it. However, he is doing rather more on rally car preparation these days helping out a friend with his rally activities.
