It'll be interesting to see what 'Motorsport News'
has done with its report on the Mull Rally at the weekend. The report was submitted
on Sunday evening as usual, and then
quickly returned to its Scottish correspondent for some changes. A rare occurrence
as their most northern contributor usually adheres to the regular news format.
Normally his attempts at humour and sentiment are edited out and his use of the
Scottish vernacular frowned upon, but not this time.
The new national rallies editor added: "If there's ever a rally we
can get sentimental about just once, it's this year's Mull."
Is this what the paper needs? Would a less formal approach appeal to existing
readers and attract new ones? Have they done it justice?
Anyway, fingers crossed. I'll see my copy tonight.
