Spotted in Dumfries
this morning, a multiple Scottish rally champion, a Rallycross Champion
and team owner, and an F1, Nascar and Trophee Andros Ice Racing
Champion. So what was that all about?
In fact it was all about
Andy Scott’s ambitious plans for this year’s FIA World Rallycross
Championship. The Dumfries driver has been rallycrossing successfully
for five years and established a base in France for his European
Championship forays and also had a base in America for his Global
Rallycross Championship campaign two years ago.
Now he’s coming
home and setting up the Albatec Racing Team HQ in his native Dumfries.
He will still have a satellite operation in France, but has his sights
set on winning the 2014 FIA World series and to give him a hand with
that he has signed Jacques Villeneuve to drive one of his 600 hp Peugeot
208.
As for David Bogie, he lives nearby and is a close friend
of Andy’s so was invited along to the launch of the 2014 campaign. As we
all know, David has twice been given a test in Andy’s cars and Andy has
made no secret of the fact that he would like to give David a seat, but
David is still dead set on rallying. Methinks there is still unfinished
business there though!
David is off down to the Wyedean
tomorrow for the first round of the BTRDA Championship, but was staying
tight lipped (for the moment) about some ambitious plans of his own this
coming season. But not in a rallycross car!
