Only three Scottish
crews heading to Wales this weekend for the BTRDA series opener, the Wyedean
Rally, but given the weather they’ll need more than an extra layer of Damart
and wellies.
Top seeds are Euan
Thorburn and Paul Beaton with David Bogie and Kevin Rae running in their stoor.
However, ‘wurr boys’ will be up against it. Look at what’s behind them, Steve
Petch in an 08 Focus and Paul Bird in an 07 Focus against our boys ‘02 cars. The
number 5 seed is interesting too, young Ollie Mellors, with stanes the size of
boulders, in the Proton Satria. We saw
him a few times up here last year, and that’s just for starters. There’s quite
a few other quick blokes in Imprezas, Lancers and a few more World cars in the
152 car entry list.
Contesting the Historic
class are Allan McDowall and Gavin (the
lost ZZ Top triplet!) Heseltine in the newly built MkII which Allan is still
trying to get to grips with, compared to his tried and trusty Kadett.
