Craig Breen holds a 25 second advantage over Poland's
Kajetan Kajetanowski with Alastair Fisher a further 2 seconds behind after 6
(of 14 stages) in this weekend's Circuit of Ireland Rally.
Struggling with brake issues for most of the day, David Bogie was top
Scottish driver in 8th place almost a minute and a half behind the rally leader
with Jonathan Greer and our Kirsty Riddick in 10th place. Alex Laffey is 34th
but there has been no sign of Euan Thorburn since earlier this morning - and
he's not on the retirement list! Neither is Blair Brown , but it was a close
call. The clutch failed before the final stage today and they couldn't fix it
in time, but have plenty of time to get it sorted for Saturday. Just one
drawback, he'll be carrying a 10 min penalty. At least he's in good company,
Elfyn Evans will re-start tomorrow with a penalty after pulling out earlier in
the day when an auxiliary drive belt failed.
In the National event, Derek McGarrity leads Wes Patterson by 40
seconds with Ollie Mellors third almost 30 seconds behind. Top Scot was Donnie
MacDonald who was 9th at the overnight halt, Ross Marshall 11th, John Morrison 22nd,
Lee Hastings 27th and the indomitable Thaarique Fazal is 64th while Aberdeen's Gary
McDonald co-driving for Ascot's Stephen Murray is 63rd.
