The latest quarterly meeting of the
Scottish Association of Car Clubs was held last night in Bridge of Allan – the
posh end of Stirling, but it’s central. All of Scotland's car clubs deserve to
know what goes on at these meetings. If your club was not represented, then why
not? The very future of the sport is at stake. If you’re not there, you can’t
contribute.
The main topic of the night, as it was at the previous two
meetings, was the need for more Marshals and compliance with the
recommendations of the Safety Review Group. If we don’t get more volunteers then
the very future of multi-venue stage rallying is in doubt. Note that I said “is
in doubt” and did not use the term “may be in doubt”. It is that serious.
Oh! And by the way, the report may be accurate, but the
views and opinions expressed are those of the Editor!
And another thing. There was an even more upsetting
occurrence, when the barman charged 12 quid for two pints of lager. And no, he
hadn’t miscalculated. That’s just Bridge of Allan prices for you. How am I
going to get through the next meeting without the steadying influence of a
tincture of alcohol?
Full report here (it’s quite long by the way!):
