The news that Elfyn Evans has got the third seat
in the M-Sport WRC squad this year is not only welcome, but it has partially eased
one of the biggest dilemmas facing Scottish rally fans this coming season.
Prior to the news, it was a question of, do we support a Brit in a
French team or a Frenchman in a British team? Admittedly there are a couple of Irish
blokes in the Citroen team, Craig Breen and Paul Nagle, with Craig's English co-driver
Scott Martin, alongside Northern Ireland's Kris Meeke, but with Cumbria's
M-Sport team being spearheaded by a certain Seb Ogier and Ott Tanak, it was
going to be a difficult decision either way.
Enter DMACK and Red Bull and the Welshman is back in the fold teaming
up again this season with England's Daniel Barritt, so there's a decent bit of 'far
north eastern European' flavour in the WRC this year.
If there had been a Scot anywhere in the line-up then it would have made
the choice much easier, but there isn't, so what will we do - support the flag
or the badge? Any thoughts on the matter?
By the way, Red Bull kindly sent me a copy of an interview with Elfyn,
