The
Scottish Government has published its final report into motor sport (rallying)
safety and the full text of the announcement is published in the on-line rally
magazine. There is also a link to the full 20 page report and recommendations.
No doubt we will hear from the
MSA in due course about implementation of the recommendations. However, the
report continues to claim that the three fatalities on the Jim Clark Rally were
spectators. I think we all know by this time this is not strictly accurate.
The report contains no surprises
and most clubs already implement much of what has been recommended, but the
idea of standardisation across all events should be helpful to those who wish
to come and watch rallying, especially those who are new to the sport.
