Road - From Kuga to B Max

Every time I drive a Ford Kuga I think of Spain, red wine, raw meat – and bullfights, but there is a perfectly good reason for that. My review of the latest model Kuga has now been published, so I can turn my attention to this week’s road weapon of choice, the Ford B Max.

Now don’t scoff, it has the delightful little 1 litre, 3 cylinder bumblebee powerplant up front. Not enough to burn rubber, but big enough to put a smile on your face.

Rally - TV tonight

Remember that on/off kerfuffle about Motors TV showing the Scottish Rally Championship review tonight? Well, it's back on again. The full 2 hour Demus production will indeed be shown tonight at 18:55 Hrs.

Apparently there were some behind the scenes negotiations that had to be completed, and that needn't concern the likes of us, but it's sorted. Here's hoping they've also sorted the class and club roundup to be shown later!

Also re-showing on:
Friday 22 Nov at 04:10, 11:05, 23:05

Rally - Motors TV update

Apparently, Motors TV will not now be showing their report on the 2013 ARR Craib Scottish Rally Championship tomorrow night and over the weekend as previously published. Although scheduled, this cancellation is not their fault and the SRC organisation would like to apologise to Motors TV for this hiccup.

However, promises have been made to show another programme, currently being produced and edited, which will concentrate on those other competitors who didn’t quite make the final cut of the BBC programme. There is talk of a 2 hour show, dates and times will follow.

Rally - Rally GB apology

International Motor Sports Ltd, who organised the 2013 Wales Rally GB, have issued a formal apology to competitors on last weekend's National events regarding the tardiness of issuing Provisional results which were published at 12 Noon earlier today.

Rally - High energy food!

Speaking of World Championships, did you know there is actually a competition called the ‘World Scotch Pie Championship’? Last year it was won by J B Christie of Airdrie with The Little Bakery from Dumfries in second place and Wishaw’s Denholm Bakers were third.

Last week in Dunfermline, the 15th running of this annual competition held its initial assessment of entries (over 453 last year!) to create a shortlist of finalists who will now go forward to the last rounds of the competition. Winners will be announced in January.

A team of 50 judges, and a small number of pie lovers, with Head judge Robert Ross in charge, conducted the first tasting and assessment, but the team was joined by a rather special guest judge. And if any of you don’t recognise him – then you weren’t there! The shirt’s a dead giveaway!

All I’ve got to do now is get myself on to that judging team, cos as we all know, my idea of a well balanced diet is a Scotch pie in each hand.

Rally - Results - finally!

At 12 Noon today, Wales Rally GB published the Provisional results for the National 3 Day rally at the weekend. So just to confirm the top six, and the fact that two of our crews were up there, here’s the Leaderboard:

Top Six:
1, Euan Thorburn / Paul Beaton (Ford Focus WRC) 1h 56:10.7
2, Melvyn Evans / Aled Davies (Subaru Impreza WRC) 2h 00:52.5, +4:41.8
3, Paul Davy / Roger Allan (Subaru Impreza) 2h 03:04.4, +6:53.7
4, Paul Benn / Richard Cooke (Ford Focus WRC) 2h 03:13.8, +7:03.1
5, Max Utting / Bob Stokoe (Subaru Impreza) 2h 03:44.0, +7:33.3
6, John Morrison / Peter Carstairs (Mitsubishi Lancer Evo9) 2h, 04:37.0, +8:26.3

Barry Groundwater and Neil Shanks didn’t make it. Having held a top three position for most of the distance the Lancer failed to emerge from SS17, Dyfnant, just 3 stages from the finish.

Keith Parry and Eryl Evans won the 2 day event in their Subaru Impreza with Carl and Rob Tuer fifth overall in their MG ZR. Ross MacDonald and Matthew Johnstone fi nished 9th overall in their Honda Civic.

Rally - Motors TV

Apparently, Motors TV will be showing their MSA SCOTTISH RALLY CHAMPIONSHIP REVIEW tomorrow night, Thursday 21 November at 18:55 Hrs.

I don't know how long or how good their report will be, but if it's rallying and if it's Scottish, then it must be good!
