Spent the day with the proof-readers yesterday - and will have to make fewer changes than I was expecting! Which means that the ‘Scottish Rally Championship 2000-2009’ book will be ready for the printer soon.
First job is to have a final run-through of all the text and ensure that all captions match the selected photographs. And that was another big job - selecting the photos. There were/are thousands to look through and sort, and even the final-final short-list was still too long. It was with a wrench that some had to be left out. Time will tell whether the mix and the selection is right.
However, the suggestion has been made that there might well be a demand for an additional book in the series – containing all the photos (with appropriate captions!) and stories that didn’t make the serious historical roundups. This has some personal devilish appeal. By the time I get around to such a book I will be past caring about getting dragged through the courts for slander or libel.
Having been nothing but a charming and kindly personage to all in rallying in the past, it would be good to let rip. Or would it?
