Coltness Car Club are having one of their ‘Open’ nights again this coming Monday evening the 3rd of February from 7.30pm for 8.00pm.
A guest has been invited from whom we all may benefit from sound knowledge and advice, one Euan Syme the ‘suspension guy’. As ever the carefully scripted and rehearsed presentation will show no signs of planning or forethought, although the resultant free-for-all should at least provide some revelations with regard to the inner workings of automotive shock absorbers, springs, compression, damping and rebounds.
As most, sorry, some of us know only too well, the idea of extracting more performance from your chosen competition machine lies not under the bonnet but inside the wheel arches. You can have all the power you want but there’s no way of getting it to the ground if you haven’t thought about handling and set-up. A properly set up car with the same power output as a standard machine will always perform better – although admittedly the driver in such cases might also have a bearing!
Anyway, the idea is for Euan to have an introductory chat to explain the science in simple terms and then follow that up with a general chat amongst the crowd, and for the shy folks there’s always the chance of a private word afterwards!
Such advice will be applicable to all types of machinery from road and targa cars to all out competition machinery, so we can all benefit.
As ever, the venue will be Dalserf Bowling Club, Ashgillhead Road in the village of Ashgill to the west of Larkhall just off Junction 8 on the M74 at Canderside Toll, and remember the bar uses cash, rather than card – we’re in Lanarkshire after all! Non members welcome.
By the way a remote reservoir is not the water filled dam up at Caldercruix – Euan will explain more on the night!
