Rally - Kings of the 'Hill

John Marshall and Scott Crawford scored top points on the opening round of the Cobble Shop Scottish Tarmack Championship when they won the Grant Construction Knockhill Stages Rally. David Hardie and Mark McCulloch were hot on their tail - till the final stage.

At the finish, the Paterson brothers were second ahead of the father and son Hastings crew. Three Subaru Imprezas in the top three places. We haven't seen that for a while.

Rally - Border Counties Postponed

Who'd be a rally organiser? The organisers of this weekend's Border Counties Rally have issued another Statement. They have reluctantly been forced to postpone Saturday's (10th March) rally. Maybe they should do a deal with Highland Car Club - and swap rally titles!

Things are more than difficult enough for organisers these days without the weather interfering. Naturally I blame Brexit. This is just the latest example of mainland Europe wishing to keep us within their cosy fold by allowing us to share their weather, and they sent us an overly-generous helping last week. Just think, once the separation has become permanent we'll no doubt have to pay some form of Customs fee to import their weather - or maybe not.

As to promised future trade deals with the Americans, perhaps we can swap some of our Summer rain showers for their Florida Sunshine when the blonde buffoon and the tufted tweeter sit down to discuss such matters on our behalf. No doubt our end of the deal will end up with cyclones, hurricanes and tornadoes - and no sunshine.

And the picture? That's just an image of the top of the lighthouse here in New St Even's Town poking out of the snow during the recent winter storms. Sited on the Redstone rocks, the advanced fully solar powered automated beacon provides a welcoming light to weary stormgripped travellers.

At least it should have. Due to lack of sunshine, this warm and welcoming beacon of hospitality was prevented from sending out its bright and bountiful message of warmth and benevolence. So much for renewable energy.

Where's a wind turbine when  you need one, eh?

Rally - Malcolm Wilson Rally

Malcolm Wilson Rally scheduled to run this Saturday 3rd March has been POSTPONED due to weather. Biggest problem would be trying to get Safety Crews and Marshals to their stations. Snowing hard, blowing hard, drifting bad - and still snowing! And the critics of the Winter Olympics said we weren't a 'snow nation', eh? Get your skates on and your skeleton runners polished.

Rally - Border Counties

The joint opening round of the British Rally Championship and second round of the Scottish national series, the NCS Border Counties Rally, scheduled to run over the weekend of 10/11 March has been shortened to a one-day rally on Saturday 10th March. The organisers have issued a statement, copy here:

Funeral Arrangements

Bob Shepherd’s funeral will take place next Tuesday, 6th March at Mid Deeside Church, St Marnan Road, Torphins AB31 4JQ at 11.00 am.

It should be noted that Mid Deeside is a rather modest sized village church and seating accommodation is limited. With that in mind the family are arranging to have the service relayed to speakers erected outside, so bring your anoraks and rally jackets with you – and maybe even a woolly hat! Also, car parking in the vicinity is very limited so please respect local parking issues and local resident access.
