If ever proof was needed that rallying needs fresh blood and
new ideas, youthful good looks and fitter volunteers here it is. It’s not just
Marshals the sport is short of, but technical officials like Scroots and
volunteer organisers like ‘The Pixie’. One of these august personalities is a
wheel shoogling, tyre-kicker and Log-Book stamper, and the other is a writer,
author, publisher, historian, marshal, organiser, gatekeeper, club secretary,
fund raiser and generally everything else that others seek to avoid. Without
folk like these (and many others) we’d be standing in an Ayrshire field today,
not a wonderful ‘bijou’ motor sports facility.
