One of the good guys! |
At the Detroit Motor Show over in America this week, Ian Callum has been
named ‘Industry Innovator of the Year’ at the 2014 Motorcity Automotive
Industry Night (MAIN) Event Awards.
Jaguar was recognised by the MAIN Event Executive Committee as the
ultimate definition of automotive luxury and praised for its distinct design
language, use of advanced technology and outstanding vehicle dynamics.
Although internationally known and renowned for his design work on
Aston Martin cars and now with Jaguar, the Dumfries born Scotsman who studied
Industrial Design at the Glasgow School of Art and later at the Royal College
of Art (RCA) in London had a rather more humble design beginning.
When he joined Ford Motor Company in 1979, the very first job he was given was
designing the door handle for the then to be announced second generation Ford
Transit van!
Nice one Ian!
