In all of last weekend’s excitement I
almost forgot to mention that David Weston
and Kirsty Riddick were on winning form at the Plains rally in their Subaru
Impreza scoring a narrow 6 second victory over Josh Moffett and John Rowan in
their Ford Fiesta RS WRC.
Euan
Thorburn and Richard Cooke were on the case in their Ford Focus WRC02 until
they punctured a tyre on the third stage compounded by a bit of an engine stall
on the fifth. They finished 24 seconds behind Weston, but 34 ahead of Hugh
Hunter.
Neil Shanks
co-drove ‘adopted Scot’ Wayne Sisson into an excellent 12th place in
the Arnside Motorsport Evo10.
There were
more Westons and Riddicks further down the field with Keith Riddick and Mairi
Riddick finishing 51st (and 1st in class) in their MG ZR while
Ryan Weston and Mark McCulloch finished in 54th place (and 4th
in class) in their Proton Satria.
Both Gordon
Alexander/Ian Clark in the MG and Scott and David Sloan in their Corsa failed
to get beyond Stage 2.
Of particular note, it is perhaps worth recording that the event attracted 167 entries for the six stage, 40.7 mile event in north
west Wales!
